PetrCech joined Arsenal because he wants to challenge the top teams in Europe and they might be able to do it
PetrCech’s transfer to Arsenal has already been completed and the veteran shot-stopper has already started training with his new club at the Emirates Stadium. In one of the latest interviews that was made to the Czech player, he stated that Arsene Wenger played a huge role in the deal as the French manager convinced him it was a good decision to join Arsenal.
Besides Arsene Wenger, PetrCech said that he wanted to join a team which has aspirations of competing against the best teams in Europe and that’s why he opted to join Arsenal but this is a very bold thing to say about a club that has not won their league title since the 2003-04 season but with the arrival of PetrCech, this might be changing soon enough.
Manuel Almunia, Lukasz Fabiasbski, WojciechSzczesny, Alex Manninger, Stuart Taylor, David Ospina and Rami Shaaban are the names of some of the goal-keepers who have worn the Arsenal jersey from the past few years. A few of them have done a fairly good job between the sticks but the majority of them just haven’t been good enough to put the team in their shoulders which is what the defensive section of Arsenal has recently been demanding.
In these past few seasons, Arsene Wenger has been making a huge splash in the transfer market. In 2013, he broke the clubs transfer record by signing MesutOzil and in 2014, Alexis Sanchez was signed. The latest high profile player that was lured into the Emirates Stadium was PetrCech and he might just be the last thing that Arsenal needed to compete against the best that the Premier League has to offer.
At the age of 33, PetrCech isn’t the same player he used to be some time ago but he still is considered to be one of the best in the business and even though Arsenal still is far away from the reach of Europe’s elite, they finally have enough tools to aspire on becoming England’s top club.
