CECH IMPRESSED WITH ‘GOALKEEPER’ ALONSO, OTHERS
Chelsea legend Petr Cech was left impressed with the performance of Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso as a goalkeeper. The Spaniard was one of the best Chelsea players during the drill that involved them to make saves in goal.
Petr Cech is the performance and technical director at Chelsea and he sat down with the club’s official website to discuss the performance of the players in goal. Petr Cech is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League era and he’s considered by many as the best goalkeeper in the history of Chelsea.
Cech was impressed with Alonso as he praised the left-back for the focus and coordination shown in goal while trying to make a save. According to him, Alonso is an athlete capable of playing different ball games.
On Christian Pulisic, Cechsaid his footwork and push in goal were good. He said the American international made a good push with both hands while trying to save the ball.
Apart from Alonso and Pulisic, Petr Cech also talked about the goalkeeping performance of English striker Tammy Abraham, American defender Matt Miazga plus attackers Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech. Italian defender DavideZappacosta, Lewis Baker, Malang Sarr, Ross Barkley, Craig Clarke-Salter, TrevohChalobah and Conor Gallagher were also on the chopping block as Cech examined their goalkeeping performance during the aforementioned training drill.
Chelsea fans would be hoping that they don’t have cause to field one of their players in goal this season as the club attempt to fight the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title. The Blues are the reigning European champions after their Champions League triumph last season.
