LAMPARD RULED OUT
Two of the experienced Chelsea players, Branislav Ivanovic and Frank Lampard, will not be seen in action for the next 4 weeks or so. Both of them had got injured during the match against Liverpool last year.
Jose Mourinho, the man in charge at Chelsea, said that after his team’s victory against Southampton FC on the first day of 2014.
Ivanovic had made his way out of the ground in the earlier stages of the game against the Reds after suffering a knee blow, while, Lampard had done a bit of damage to his leg muscles just moments before the half time break and hadn’t gone onto the pitch in the second half.
Ivanovic’s injury was reported to be just a minor one a day after that game and it was understood that he would miss just a game or two, but, that wasn’t the case to be. The medical team after having a thorough look at the injury of the Serbian international decided that he would have to remain out for 1 month just as Lampard.
The Chelsea fans would certainly not be happy hearing this, and not just to see an improvement in the William Hill football betting odds. With competition getting tighter and tighter at the top of the league table, it’s important for the teams to have their full strength squads available for the upcoming games. Losing two highly experienced players at such a crucial time is the last thing that a top 4 team would want.
However, the thing with Chelsea is that they are not short of midfield or deep options. They would have been more worried if they had lost a striker because that’s where they are lacking choices. Nevertheless, losing experienced players is always a blow no matter how much depth there is in the squad.
Chelsea is presently at the third position in the league table.
