Werner explains his reason to join Chelsea was Lampard
Timo Werner says that the reason to join Chelsea was Frank Lampard. The German international was transferred from RB Leipzig to Chelsea recently. The player was mostly speculated of joining the squad of Jurgen Klopp and at the same time, he had interests from both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. But it was the Blues who succeeded in signing him for £47.5 million and the player has begun practising in Stamford Bridge.
Werner, on the official website of Chelsea, has explained the reason to choose the club was Lampard. During the discussion regarding the deal, Lampard has explained clearly what he expects from him and about the system in Chelsea.
“We talked a lot about things like the system, how he wants to play and sees me playing, and how the system fits me. He is a really nice guy who not only told me what he wants from me as a player because he wants to help me as a guy. He knows me now a little bit better and it fits very well between us and now I am happy to be here,” said Werner.
Werner has been playing in Leipzig for the past four years and when he wanted to leave he has to make sure that he will be making the right choice. In the 2019-2020 season, he has scored 34 goals from 45 games and becoming the leading goalscorer of the club. He will be looking forward to doing the same in the upcoming season for Chelsea too.
Werner explaining his reason on choosing Premier League added that the nature of Premier League is being fast and his qualityis being fast and he feels that he would fit right into the system. The league is from another country and this change would help him improve his game and achieve another level of football.
