Petr Cech Still Believes in Arsenal’s Title Chances
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech was still buoyant about lifting his first Premier league title with Arsenal, even after the club suffered a 4-0 loss against at Anfield.
It was one of the several heavy defeats for the club when it comes to games against the top teams. After the game, Petr Cech was in a shock and he labelled the performance from his teammates as a disaster. However, the goalkeeper tried to stay positive by claiming that Arsenal were still capable of winning the Premier league. The gunners have not lifted the league title since the 2003-04 season.
While the drought with regard to trophies was recently brought to an end with the likes of FA Cup and the Community Shield, the club are still yearning for the absolute top success like the Premier league and the Champions League. For the first time in more than two decades, the club will be without the European premiere competition – Champions League.
The presence of Europa league football is unlikely to help Arsenal due to the large number of matches required to negotiate this competition. For the moment, Petr Cech seems to have his sights set firmly on the league title even after the heavy loss against Liverpool. Arsenal put in a shocking performance in which the players offered little throughout the game.
“I would say the only positive thing out of the game is we have to respond and we have time to respond as it is very early doors in the season. With two defeats you can still win the league so it’s not a problem.I think, if I didn’t believe that we can do that [win the title] I would probably retire. I believe this team has everything to complete and to be able to win the title,” said Cech.
